Rebecca Grossman Sentenced to 15 Years to Life in Prison

Grossman, a co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation, was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of hit-and-run

Rebecca Grossman, a well-known socialite and co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison on Monday for her role in the 2020 hit-and-run deaths of two young brothers.

Grossman was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of hit-and-run in April. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Calabasas, California, on September 29, 2020. Grossman was driving her Mercedes-Benz when she struck and killed Mark Iskander, 11, and Jacob Iskander, 8, as they were crossing the street.

Grossman fled the scene of the accident but was later arrested. She was initially charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter, but the charges were upgraded to murder after prosecutors determined that she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

During the sentencing hearing, Grossman's attorney asked for leniency, arguing that she was remorseful for her actions and that she had already suffered greatly from the publicity surrounding the case. However, the judge rejected this request, saying that Grossman's actions were "inexcusable" and that she deserved to spend the rest of her life in prison.

The Iskander family expressed relief at the sentence, saying that it brought them some closure after the tragic loss of their sons.
