The Los Angeles Lakers are now facing an uphill battle in the Western Conference semifinals after dropping the first two games of their series against the Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets took Game 2 on Thursday night with a 122-109 victory, giving them a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Nikola Jokic led the way for Denver with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Jamal Murray added 26 points.
The Lakers were led by Anthony Davis, who had 30 points and 23 rebounds. LeBron James added 22 points, but he was just 9-of-24 from the field.
The Nuggets have now won seven straight games in the playoffs, including the first two games of their series against the Lakers. They will look to take a commanding 3-0 lead when they host Game 3 on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Lakers, meanwhile, will need to find a way to win Game 3 to avoid falling into a deeper hole. They will need to play better defensively and get more production from their role players.
