LOS ANGELES - As the Denver Nuggets' historic celebration began, LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers' star forward, walked off his home court with an expressionless face. For the first time ever, the Nuggets are headed to the NBA Finals, completing a sweep over Los Angeles with a thrilling win in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
Despite a strong performance from James, who finished with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, the Lakers were unable to keep pace with the Nuggets' balanced attack. Nikola Jokic led the way for Denver with 38 points, 18 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Jamal Murray added 24 points and Aaron Gordon contributed 22 points.
The Lakers led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but the Nuggets chipped away at their lead and took control of the game in the third quarter. Denver outscored Los Angeles 35-22 in the period, thanks in part to Jokic's dominance in the paint.
The Lakers made a late push in the fourth quarter, cutting the Nuggets' lead to just three points with less than two minutes remaining. However, Murray hit a關鍵三分球, and Gordon added a dunk to seal the victory.
